smtp.module in SMTP Authentication Support 5
Same filename and directory in other branches
Enables drupal to send email directly to an SMTP server using authentication. Uses the PHPMailer class by Brent R. Matzelle.
Overriding mail handling in drupal requires setting the smtp_library variable with the filename of a file containing a user_mail_wrapper() function. This module sets the smtp_library value to point back to this file which contains the user_mail_wrapper() function that uses the PHPMailer to send email instead of the PHP mail() class.
